Services
Dental Implants
Dental implants replace missing teeth with artificial roots and crowns that mimic natural teeth. This service prevents bone loss, maintains adjacent teeth alignment, and restores full functionality. Ideal for patients seeking permanent, stable tooth replacement solutions.
Teeth Whitening
Professional in-office whitening removes stains caused by food, drinks, or smoking. Treatments brighten teeth by multiple shades using advanced bleaching techniques, offering faster, longer-lasting results compared to over-the-counter products for a confident smile.
General Dentistry
Comprehensive preventive services include exams, cleanings, X-rays, and oral cancer screenings. These procedures detect early issues, maintain oral health, and prevent decay or gum disease through regular check-ups and personalized hygiene guidance.
Family Dentistry
Family dentistry provides tailored care for patients of all ages, from children's check-ups to adult restorative treatments. Services focus on education, preventive care, and creating a comfortable environment to build lifelong dental habits.
Orthodontics
Invisalign aligners straighten teeth discreetly without metal braces. Custom-fitted trays gradually shift teeth into proper alignment, improving bite function and aesthetics. Treatments are removable, convenient, and ideal for adults seeking subtle orthodontic correction.

Report
I was a patient of Dr. Dana Samet at Dental Art of South Bay for approximately six years. I am sharing my experience because the final phase of my care caused me significant physical discomfort, stress, additional expense, and a loss of trust. My concern centers on an upper partial denture. Beginning around February 2024, I returned repeatedly for impressions, fittings, laboratory work, remakes, adjustments, and follow-up visits.
I recall approximately six or seven attempts to take impressions. The partial was adjusted many times, and the laboratory was changed during the process. Despite those efforts, it still did not fit or function properly for me. I repeatedly reported pressure, headaches, facial and jaw discomfort, instability, and difficulty chewing and eating normal foods. During this period, I experienced approximately 25 pounds of unintended weight loss.
I felt that what I was physically experiencing was minimized or dismissed. I did not want a dispute; I wanted a partial that I could comfortably use. On June 18, 2026, I again told Dr. Samet that the partial was hurting me and causing pressure and headaches. Another adjustment was made, but the problem continued. After nearly two years of unsuccessful attempts to make the appliance work, I sought independent dental opinions.
Two separate practices with no affiliation to Dr. Samets office raised similar concerns about how the partial fit my mouth. On August 14, 2026, Dr. Joel Caraballo at New Image Dental examined the partial while it was in my mouth. I was advised that it did not properly conform to my dental arch and that further adjustments were not considered a predictable solution. I paid an additional $2,540 for evaluation and replacement treatment.
I provided Dr. Samets office with outside documentation and proof of payment, and I offered to return the unsuccessful partial. I asked the practice twice to reimburse me for that $2,540 expense. I was seeking reimbursement for the replacement treatment I needed after the prolonged problems with this appliance, not for the other dental care I received over six years. My position was that reimbursement would resolve the matter as far as I was concerned.
I fully intended to remain a patient. I had a confirmed periodontal maintenance appointment for September 18, 2026. No one called or texted to tell me not to come, although the office had routinely used text messages about appointments. I drove approximately an hour to Torrance expecting to receive my scheduled care. Only after I arrived did I learn that Dr. Samet had terminated the dentist-patient relationship.
In my view, the way this was handled was abrupt, unnecessary, and unprofessional. I had not refused treatment, abandoned the practice, or said that I wanted to leave. I had raised concerns about pain and fit, sought second opinions, and requested reimbursement for replacement treatment. I was a long-standing patient who spent thousands of dollars at this practice. I attended appointments, cooperated with treatment, paid for services, and returned for follow-up care.
I am not claiming that every service I received over those six years was negative. My complaint concerns this partial denture, the physical difficulties I experienced, the cost and stress of obtaining outside treatment, and how the relationship ended after I requested reimbursement.
Patients should be able to say this hurts or this does not fit, ask questions, and seek a second opinion. If you are considering this practice for a partial denture, denture, bridge, or other major restorative work, I encourage you to ask in advance what happens if an appliance does not fit, what the remake policy is, and how patient concerns and second opinions are handled.
Listen to your body. Keep your records. Document your communications. Advocate for yourself. My name is Bridgette Lewis, and this review reflects my personal experience as a patient of Dental Art of South Bay.
