At Capital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, we pride ourselves on being a positive reflection of the quality of care that our referrals provide to their patients. With over 20 years of experience, we have been serving the Greater Northern California area, and with two offices and three doctors, we provide efficient access to emergency treatment for the entire central valley.

Our Philosophy

Our doctors' philosophy is to maintain a cutting-edge practice that is both dynamic and rewarding to our patients. We are committed to providing safe and comfortable oral surgery in a relaxed atmosphere. Our practice is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a Carestream CT scanner, which allows our doctors to have greater diagnostic capabilities and to introduce computer-assisted implantology and orthognathic surgery.

• Oral Surgery: Our doctors are trained to perform a variety of oral surgery procedures, including corrective jaw surgery, TMJ surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, and reconstructive surgery.
• Dental Implants: Our doctors use computer-assisted implantology to ensure precise placement of dental implants.
• Orthognathic Surgery: We provide orthognathic surgery to correct jaw alignment issues and improve the overall health and aesthetics of the face.
• Laser Surgery: We use laser surgery to minimize soft tissue damage during surgery.

Our Staff

Our staff is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and service. Our practice administrator is responsible for ensuring that both offices run efficiently and professionally. Our surgical staff members are trained in BCLS, office emergency protocols, and are certified oral surgery assistants.

Hospital Affiliations

Our doctors maintain full hospital privileges at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. We also have affiliations with other Sacramento area hospitals, where we perform corrective jaw surgery, TMJ surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, and reconstructive surgery.

Our Doctors

Our team of experienced doctors includes:

• Michael S. Phelps, D.D.S.: Dr. Phelps graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received his D.D.S. degree from USC. He received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certificate from the LAC-USC Medical Center.
• Dale L. Alto, D.D.S.: Dr. Alto graduated from the University of Michigan and received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati.
