Our Team

Our team is comprised of dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing the best possible dental care. Our dentists, Dr. Jacob Smestad and Dr. Brekke Hudelson, have received advanced education and training in their respective fields, ensuring that you receive the most comprehensive care.

Dr. Jacob Smestad, a Minnesota native, received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2010. After joining his father-in-law, Dr. David Gunelson, at the current practice location in Hibbing, Dr. Smestad continued Dr. Gunelson's brand of comfortable and personalized dentistry. Dr. Smestad is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying biking, running, skiing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Brekke Hudelson, a Hibbing native, received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2017, along with her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. After completing a general dentistry residency program at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, Dr. Hudelson joined North Star Dental Care in July 2018. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Hudelson enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and capturing photos of the northland's beauty.

Our Services

At North Star Dental Care, we offer a comprehensive range of general and family dental services. Our services include:

• General Dentistry: Dental exams and x-rays, preventive dental cleanings, fluoride treatment and sealants, tooth-colored fillings, cosmetic bonding, teeth whitening, veneers, and porcelain crowns.
• Restorative Dentistry: Restorative crowns, bridges, root canal therapy, and surgical tooth extractions.
• Periodontal Gum Therapy: Periodontal disease treatment and prevention.

Our Office

We are conveniently located on 1st Avenue on the west end of downtown Hibbing, a block from Howard St, and across the street from the Holiday Gas Station. Parking is available on-street in the front, with additional parking available in the lot behind the building. Our regular business hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
